CROSSOVER RECRUITMENT POLICY
This recruitment policy explains the steps taken when employing new staff. It also explains the processes under which all applications are covered.
Vacant positions are advertised on Indeed (or similar online recruitment platforms) and locally to ensure an equal opportunity for applicants.
Role / person descriptions are sent out, usually by e-mail to interested persons together with information about the organisation and links to our social media sites with a final date for applications.
Shortlisting takes place with at least two trustees using a proforma to ensure equality of scrutiny.
Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview with three people, a mix of Trustees and a senior staff member. During Covid regulations it has not been possible to invite applicants to see
Crossover in session, but once rules are relaxed, this would be our intention.
Every applicant is asked the same range of questions with the panel assessing compliance and suitability. Notes are taken. The panel will come to an agreement to made a position offer if there is a candidate that meets the desired skill levels.
The offer will be dependant on an enhanced DBS check and two references.
These steps are all taken within the framework of the following:
• All information is subject to data protection protocol and therefore is treated as confidential to Crossover. Unsuccessful candidates will have their information erased from our files whilst the
successful candidates application will be retained as part of their personnel file. This information is part of a password protected file accessed by only 3 key people.
• We ask that one referee is from the current or previous employer and the other a personal one. Referees will be sent the role / person specifications and asked their opinion as to the applicants
suitability for the post. Particular reference is made to any safeguarding issues in the past.
• We ask prospective employees to make a personal declaration regarding any previous safeguarding issues. This is in addition to the enhanced DBS check.
• We do not have a blanket policy about past difficulties, and commit to treating any situation on an individual basis.
